My name is Brenda Brush, and I am the District Elementary Math Coach for the Greenwich Public Schools in Greenwich, CT.  I have been teaching for over 14 years, and learned to love math when I was learning how to teach it.  While in the classroom, I worked hard to instill a love for math in my students.  Now as a coach, I am working to spread my enthusiasm for teaching math to the 11 schools and nearly 240 teachers I work with! I use this blog as a way to communicate news and information about math to my teachers, but if you’ve stumbled upon this site by other means, welcome! I hope you will find it informative and helpful.  Please feel free to leave feedback – it is greatly appreciated!

I am really enjoying your posts and links. This is my first year as a math specialist in San Diego. I taught fifth grade for 11 years and taught 6-8th for 4 years. I am lucky that I work at one school with colleagues I have worked with for 11 years. Your blog is helping me get launched. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you are doing.

Thank you, Heather! I’m glad you are finding the blog useful! I feel badly that I haven’t gotten anything posted in quite some time, but we had a rocky start to this school year with Hurricane Irene pushing our start date back by a week! I hope you will continue to visit Math Matters, and please let me know if there is anything in particular that you are looking for!

    Hi Brenda!

My name is Jim Forde and I am just down the road in Stamford, CT! We are working on the Everyday Math/CCSS crosswalks at our district as k-2 math will be implementing soon.

Does greewich have any docs related to EM and CCSS that they would be willing to share with Stamford?

Thank you in advance for your help! Jim Forde 🙂
