Last school year, I got an email from a Kindergarten teacher that said:
“My kids are curious about, of all things, googleplex! Is it really a 1 with 100 zeroes?”
Here was my answer:
Googleplex is the headquarters of Google. 🙂
A googolplex is the number. It is built upon the concept that a googol is a 1 with 100 zeroes. A googlplex is a one with a googol zeroes after it! Here are a couple of links that might help, but it’s kind of tricky to me. Interestingly enough, while researching this for you, I found that Carl Sagan (the famous astronomer of Cosmos fame) said that it would be physically impossible to write out a googolplex in numbers because it would take up more space than the universe provides!
